About
Reynolds Whatley is a Settlement Consultant with Sage Settlement Consulting. With more than two decades of settlement planning experience under his belt, Reynolds joined Sage to broaden the offerings for claimants, attorneys, and business owners. His clients can now have access to trust services, wealth preservation, government benefit protection, guaranteed income strategies, and more.
Reynolds began his settlement planning career in 2004 when an attorney requested an income stream for a disabled client. Recognizing an opportunity to use his financial planning expertise to protect vulnerable injured claimants and their families, Reynolds began creating settlement plans for auto accident, defective product, and wrongful death claimants. He has also assisted claimants involved in mass tort actions. When it comes to financial planning, Reynolds believes the adage, “a good defense is the best offense.” By helping his clients establish financial security through proper planning and guidance, Reynolds sets them up for future growth opportunities.
As a settlement consultant, attorneys rely on Reynolds to attend mediations, determine their clients’ unique wants and needs, educate clients about their available options, and craft personalized plans. Business owners appreciate Reynolds’s diligence in areas of planning, including employee retention, business continuation, and wealth transfer.
Reynolds was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Western State College of Colorado and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he majored in International Political Science and minored in Spanish. Through his work with business owners and attorneys, he has earned many awards for planning excellence.
Outside of his professional life, Reynolds enjoys anything outdoors, including exercising and fishing. He also volunteers his time with local organizations and spends time with his extended family. While having the privilege of assisting injury victims and loving his work in the settlement planning business, Reynolds believes that giving without the chance of receiving in return is life’s ultimate gift.
